KinderChemistry!

Josh Denhart is the founder and creator of “KinderChemistry”, a series of educationally entertaining hands-on experiences filled with explosions, magnets, rockets, colored foam, liquid nitrogen, glow-in-the-dark solutions, and so much more!  "KinderChemistry" is a monthly program that partners with Early Education Programs to supplement their current curriculum with high quality, high energy and scientifically sound experiences for early learners. 

As former Valley High School chemistry teacher, Josh created “KinderChemistry” out of a personal passion for science learning.  Being a kid-at-heart, Josh still loves to "play" with science toys and has a robust and ever-growing collection of high quality science equipment.  His collection allows Early Education Programs to experience quality science enrichment without investing in staff or expensive supplies.

Once a month, the "KinderChemistry" students are allowed to explore, investigate and experience science with all of their senses.  Wearing a tie-dyed lab coat, "Mr. Josh" has earned celebrity status with these young learners!   Using a combination of hands-on experiences and upfront stage production, learners are engaged, inspired and reminded that they too can become scientists.  These little "KinderChemists" always seem to ask, "Mr. Josh, when are you coming back??!?"

Josh holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry Education, a Masters Degree in Effective Instruction, and earned National Board Certification in Young Adult and Adolescent Science.  Josh is a seasoned veteran of education and has taken this "Chemistry Road Show" to thousands and thousands of learners (Newspaper Article).  Josh and his wife Sarah have four children and the phrase, "Daddy, can we play science today?" is often heard around their home.  Josh currently serves as the Director of Children's Ministry at Valley Church in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Hands-On Experiences!

An important part of "KinderChemistry" are the Hands-On Experiences!  These exciting hands-on science experiences seek to take science learning to the next level.  Everyone participates!  Everyone is involved!  Click on the titles below for further descriptions of five of these experiences.

"Ready, Set, Rockets!"  - Make and launch a rocket 200' in the sky!  Chose from over 15 unique rocket designs.  Rockets are crafted from printed color-card stock paper, complete with rocket fins and colorfully printed "flames" shooting from the base. Completely safe, using NO explosions, flame or heat.  Students learn about pressure, air, rocket balance, gravity, trajectory, plus so much more.  The "Ready, Set, Rocket" experience also includes stomp rockets, rocket balloons and so much more!  

"Super Slime"  - "Oooh...Gross...This is Awesome!"  Students use their OWN hands as Chemists as they measure, pour, mix and test their own unique mixture of "Super Slime". Make Slime...YUCK! Make Gloop...GROSS! Make Glow-in-the-Dark Atomic Worms...DISGUSTINGLY COOL!  Students learn measurement, scientific testing, gravity, viscosity, elasticity, polymers, plastics and long-chain carbon-based structures...with their hands!

Extreme Electricity!  - "This is a totally ELECTRIC experience!", including 3 plasma globes, a hand-crank generator, a Van De Graff generator (creating over 400,000 Volts of static electricity) and much more!   This hands-on experience will leave your hair stand on end! Learn about electrons, conductivity, open and closed circuits, electrical safety, plus so much more. Totally safe, totally exciting and totally electrifying! This hands-on experience is sure to bring a spark to student learning!

Science in a Bag! - "This is just like being a real Scientist!"  This classic reaction is a wonderful experience for young learners to make scientific observations and view evidences of chemical changes! The red liquid is squeezed ...woah...a vivid color change...double woah...this side is HOT!  The other side ...yikes...another vivid color change...double yikes...this side is FRIGID COLD!  Mix all ingredients together...but the results of the rest of the reaction will remain a surprise...and an exciting surprise, indeed! Safe, non-toxic and easily disposable!

Magnet Mania! - Yes this is the most "attractive" of the Hand-On Experiences! Students learn about electrons, attractive forces, repulsive forces, poles, charge, plus much more.  Includes ferro-fluid (magnetically attractive liquids), red/blue polar spheres, iron magnetic field location, "World's Strongest Magnets" and so much more!  This hands-on experience captivates students ages 3 to 83 years!  They say, "Opposites Attract - Likes Repel"; this magnetic ex
